Hi Everyone,
I have wanted to read this book for a long time now. I kept seeing it on bookshelves; I saw it on book shelf at a craft event (of all places); and it has popped up all over Goodreads.
I downloaded it to my Kindle, probably a year ago. I have finally discovered the option of adding audio to my books on Kindle. I am hook on this option!
So... I have been listening to '90 Minutes in Heaven' while cooking, cleaning and exercising.
It was far from what I expected. I read 'Heaven is For Real' a long time ago and loved it, so I had in my mind that this would be similar. I was wrong! This was more of a healing and rehabilitation journey. Even though there was very little about the time he was dead, the events following were well worth hearing about.
He didn't glorify the situation at all. In fact he made it sound like ....? How do even explain the pain and emotional torment that family went through. It is written in such away that I felt like I was watching the family. I connected with every character in some way, mostly emotionally. It was actually very well documented, not heaven but rather the process of getting back on ones feet after losing the ability to use the bodily features we all take for granted.
I am pleased I have finally read/listened to this book. I got to look for a few hours, into the healing process behind an accident. Into the events that follow a person and family for years after, long after we have forgotten an accident even happened.
Description:
When Don Piper's car collided with a semi-truck he was pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, he experienced the glories of heaven. Back on earth, a passing minister felt led to pray for the accident victim even though he was told Piper was dead. Miraculously, Piper came back to life, and the pleasure of heaven was replaced by a long and painful recovery. An inspiring account for people of all ages, 90 Minutes in Heaven is now poised to touch and comfort children in the same way it has offered encouragement and hope to millions of adults
This was available from: Book depository, Amazon and Fishpond
